The most well-known collegiate athletic association is the NCAA

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is the major athletic association in college sports. It is separated into three divisions (DI, DII, and DIII).  DI and DII schools offer scholarships for athletics.

Not all scholarships are full scholarships (partial and non-athletic scholarships can be offered—make sure you know what is included in your offer).

The difference between DI and DII is essentially the monetary commitment to athletics, DI schools commit more funds to their athletic programs and therefore have more money available for athletic scholarships in the major sports (i.e., men’s basketball, football, etc.).
